Fuss-Free Internet - strong, reliable whole house WiFi

Most of us know the internet's pretty important, but many of us don't know how to make it do the things we really want from it, fuss-free. We think those things are:

  1. Speed

  2. Coverage

  3. Wandering around without losing connection ('roaming')

  4. Knowing what to do to fix it/who to call when it's broken.

Interestingly, number 4 is really common. Who do you call when the internet's not working? So let's tackle these in reverse order:

4) Support. So often it's a cliché, a fix genuinely can be as simple as 'turning off and on again'. The real trick is knowing which bit... That's why we place so much focus on the personal handover, and our instruction manual that includes all this in a really simple fashion. Don't wait for BT to call Openreach to call you back (tomorrow, at some point after your allotted 8 hour window), when you could have sorted it within 10 minutes.

3) Roaming. You need a WiFi system that does a little more in the background than you might expect - more than just posing as 'one big network' with the same WiFi name. The act of wandering around while staying connected to WiFi is called roaming. However, many devices aren't built to roam - they're built to join the first WiFi point they can see, and then hang on to that for dear life, even if you’ve moved to another room with better signal. We install ‘intelligent’ WiFi systems that take care of this behind the scenes.

2) Coverage. Much as people might want to claim otherwise, this is as much an art as a science, especially for new builds when working off plan. WiFi signals behave differently when they travel through, and bounce off, different materials - glass vs wood vs plasterboard vs concrete vs underfloor heating pipes etc - so we're open about the need to plan for testing and adapting according to real world performance.

1) The speed you actually get is the end product of the following: what you were promised by your internet provider INTERRUPTED BY what else is happening on the internet between you and the people sending your information FILTERED THROUGH what your system can send around your home CAPPED BY what your device can cope with. Among other things.

We can help with all the items mentioned above that happen in your home. We design and install networks to make sure you get internet everywhere - from lounge to kitchen to bath to bedroom - and doesn't drop out while you move from one to the other. Get in touch to find out more.
