About us

Our difference: we’re not afraid to keep it simple

After years in our industry, we kept finding technology - and technologists - trying to be too clever by half. Unsurprisingly, we had great success through our careers in simplifying things. We’ve since broken this down further into:

1. Keep the language simple. We speak and write in plain English. We keep the jargon out of it (it’s our job to understand the jargon and technicalities, not yours).

2. Keep the design simple. Simplicity of design has so many benefits, but most importantly:

  • it’s easier for all to understand what’s being bought;

  • it’s easier and quicker to install;

  • it’s easier to use for homeowners;

  • it’s easier and cheaper to maintain (fewer support calls over the life of the equipment).

These core principles have stood us in good stead, and we know our clients value this; they also form an integral part of our other core values of teamwork and service.

The Process…

Design

We help you with the technology design of your home - from wiring, to interiors, to how it’s going to work. Collaboration is key, we listen, advise and work with you and your team.

Design is planning, both for what you want during your project, and for what you might want in your future.

We do this with a combination of:

  • Considering the cabling requirements for today and tomorrow

  • Creating overview schematic drawings for where these cables should go

  • Creating layout drawings of where sockets and equipment will be fitted

  • Elevation and profile drawings for specific applications like recessed TVs and home cinemas

  • Heat map planning for WiFi coverage

These we do working with you and your interior design team so everything is sympathetic to your home and your lifestyle, all the while considering aftercare and ease of remedial attention (switch off/ switch on again!)

Installation

We work with you, your builders and electricians to install. We’re kind, courteous and considerate. It’s your home, we treat it that way.

Specifically, we will:

  • Terminate and test the cables we’ll be using

  • Install built-in equipment like in-ceiling speakers, media sockets, lighting keypads and touch screens

  • Mount the final-fit items like amplifiers, TVs, blinds and WiFi points

  • And most importantly, commission to work as we’d agreed with you at the start.

The commissioning phase is arguably the most important - that’s where we really turn the project in to your project. Your Netflix account is ready for you; all the Apple TVs look and operate the same in every room; your Sonos account has got your music services ready for you. It’s that level of attention to detail that ensures the use of technology is a joy not a frustration.

Delivery

We hand over and walk through everything with you. And we leave you with a clear and simple instruction book if you ever forget anything, or something goes wrong.

We think we take care of the commissioning of your project better than most. And that leads directly into how we hand the systems over to you. It’s much easier to remember how things work when they’ve been set up in a logical way that incorporates your preferences; and it’s easier still when anything new is explained in plain English. Typically, we’ll go round the house with you, letting you test out the systems and see for yourselves how easy they are to use.

The last thing we do is take you through the handbook, which contains the important information of what to do if anything goes wrong (which, even with the best will in the world, is going to happen). We don’t just give you our phone number and the technical operating manuals from the manufacturers - it’s simple, practical things you can do to get you back up and running again, quickly.

The owners: Jon Rebbeck and Tim Marsden, with over 25 years’ experience in the world of technology between them.

Tim started in video conferencing and communications, moved to automation control systems, before realising that technology in homes was much more interesting - although the fundamentals between these worlds are very similar, with data networks underpinning all of them. With most of his experience in sales and operations, Tim is our commercial lead.

A languages graduate, guitar player and cyclist, Tim likes wifi heat maps and explaining things in plain English.

Jon began his career in live events, before choosing to work in home technology as an engineer so he could understand how systems were engineered and programmed from the bottom up. He quickly progressed to project management, running large projects with Lutron, data networks, home cinemas and window treatments. As such, Jon is our technical and design lead on all projects.

A media technology graduate, snowboarder and cyclist, Jon likes complex design challenges and explaining things in plain English.

Between us - apart from still enjoying cycling together in the Surrey Hills - we share a passion for delivering solutions of real long term value that are reliable, enjoyable and simple. We look for solutions that minimise impact on the environment and, increasingly, come with health benefits too.

We’re a small company, deliberately. We believe it’s the right way to deliver our goals - better customer service; tighter focus on quality products and services; and a better place for our team to work. This delivers for us and, importantly, our clients.

We’re located in Surrey (based in Reigate and Weybridge) and are cover most of the Home Counties (Surrey, Sussex, Hampshire, Kent, Berkshire, Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire), and London.
