CES - Consumer Electronics Show 2025. Once again, anything actually useful?

With the 2025 Consumer Electronics Show complete complete, was there anything for people in the real world?

Not really. Our take on CES has remained the same for a long time now. Plenty of curiosities; and a myriad of tiny, incremental improvements to things we already have - marketed as giant leaps forward! Obviously.

We need to wait a bit for the curiosities to see if there's anything meaningful to come of them; and the incremental improvements are indeed so small you needn't pay any heed. But, for reference, here are some of those:

  • Slightly brighter tellies (like last year; and the year before; and the year before…)

  • Robovacs with little arms to move socks out of their way

  • More smart glasses trying to find a general purpose

  • More concept cars that will be quite different by the time they get to market (if they ever do)

  • Gaming monitors which refresh their pixels imperceptibly faster (like last year; and the year before; and the year before…)

Interestingly, more companies are trying to make TVs that don't always look like a TV - much like Samsung's popular 'Frame' TV range. Who knew people would appreciate it when their lives weren't dominated by tech? Errr... we think we did!
